High guys, new to the ford team, picked up a 99 Explorer Sport with about 70,000 for very little. I am fairly expirenced working on cars, thats why i find these forums rather usefull, I rather do the work myself.

THe problem i have right now:

Head lights remain on for about 1min 30 sec after the vehicle has been shut down and the headlight knob is on off ( just before the problem occured, i notive the lights on the radio flickering, i dont know if the two problems are related)

i was just doing a searh on the forum and figured out a possible explanation,

I didnt know what that slide control was for, i still really dont know but i found out it had something to do with the lights.

I did have it turned to max delay. I hope it is that.

would the delay mechanism be related to: as soon as i turn the car on all of the lights turn on even if the the head light control knob is on off

Yeah, that's whats happening there is a light meter that tells the computer to turn the lights on when it's to dark, and unless the slider is all the way off they will turn on automatically, and stay on until either the area your in becomes brighter or until after you've turned the car off, then they'll stay on for however long you've set the delay.

I like to leave it on at the minimum delay setting, then I don't have to worry about my lights, and they turn off instantly after I turn the car off.

Welcome aboard! As you have already seen this is a useful forum that can and WILL save you a lot of time, money and heartache.

Yea i love these forums, Ever since i was 18 i've been working on cars, the technical info i have learned from the forums.

I also have anothe question. The air bag light goes on and off. The chassis doesnt seem like it has been hit, the dash bord/steering wheel look good. No noticble craps, or peeling of material. Would this be a faulty sensor or are they gone completely and it was in a accident?

I counted the times the Air bag light flashed and it seemed to be 44.
Today the turn signal/emergency lights go out. At first i thought it was the flasher relay fuse, but that was fine. The running lights/quarter lights work fine, its just the turn signal/ hazzard.
In the old ford 88-90 f 350 i remember they had a round flasher relay.

Do these fords have a similar flasher unit, if so, were is it located

were is the hazzard/turn signal relay located on the 99 Ford Explorer.
