Ok, so I just bought my first explorer on Sunday. It is a 1998 Sport. AWD, the drivers side door is shot, it won't even open. I have a mechanic friend working on that today, the alt is shot, that is getting repaired today as well. I can't really complain about fixing stuff as it has 167k on it and I only paid $1500 for it. The alt was a slight shock, but defenitely a doable quick fix. The door I knew about that is why I got it for only $1500. I checked book value on it and book value was around 4k so I figure I have a few pennies to spend before I hit a too expensive mark LOL. So, onto the great info..... Well my cousin drove it down to the mechanic that will be fixing it this morning and he noticed that it didn't shift int O/D. I don't think I've ever found so much information on one topic like that without searching for hours. The mechanic is going to check the 3-4 solenoid and screen while he's under it today and hopefully it'll work great by the time I get it tonight. Can't wait to get into this thing and see what it can really do. Thanks for making this easy for me.
