Got an 02 Explorer Eddie Bauer in September of 09. Had front end problems immediately and paid 850 dollars to have it fixed. Now the transmission is acting up. The "Check Transmission" light came on. It wont shift into overdrive and it doesn't shift into the other gears at the right time. My mechanic said the transmission needs to be replaced. The cheapest transmission I could find is a used one for 750. Does anyone have a different diagnosis or answer. Thanks, Robbie

The 5R55W transmissions suffer from worn servo bores, and solenoid blocks that go bad around 60K miles. You might not need an entire transmission. Do you have a 4 speed 4R70W or a 5 speed 5R55W?
