Hey all, I found the rims i wanna pick up for my 99 explorer sport.

They are the Cragar Soft 8 397 Series Wheel
Size: 16'' x 8''
Bolt Circle: 5 x 4-1/2''
Rear Spacing: 5''

My stock tires were the 255/70R16's, but i want to go a little wider and taller on the new tires (without needed to lift my truck etc.)

If im looking for a 30" tire height or so, and a 10" wide tire, what tire size would the come out to? I really truly appreciate your help, and if you know of any good on road/light off road tires lemme know!

Ty again.

Your stock 255/70R16 is a 30x10R16 tire already... If you want a little taller/wider you can step it up to a 31x10.5R16? or a 32" with a TT/Shackles but then you start treading on possible gear changes if you want stock performance...

does 31x10.5R16 convert into a mm size such as 255/70R60, etc.

Look for a 265/70/16, or you can try a 265/75/16

just to be clear with 16x8 rims, 265/75/16's will be fine without any other modifications to a stock 99 sport?

You will be fine, no issues, just make sure the back spacing is correct. I think you are looking for about 3.75-4.00" of backspacing.

I've got 265/75R16 on my x right now w/o any lift and it works fine for me

awesome, those rims have 5 inch backspacing but i dont think it will be a problem. do you guys?

do you know of any decent looking black rims for some 265/75R16 tires? kind of like cragars, american racing, etc

also, when you say rub, do you think it would be something i could easily take care of to stop the rubbing?

Just order the rims with the correct backspacing.

THeres a link to Pro Comp wheels, series 97. they have a 16x8 with 4.25" backspacing. That should be ok, but not 100%.

I've been extremely happy with my 454 17" wheels from Custom Wheels Direct:

It's the perfect offset and backspace (about 2" wider but retain the factory scrub angles), no rubbing (even with a 1.5" drop), and best of all, no speedo calibration. CWD also sells tires and they mount and balance them perfectly. Get them in chrome, aluminum and black trim.

The tires are Toyo Proxies S/T, 255-65-17's. These will stick out a little up front so if you don't have fender flares, you'll probably want to get a set.
