I've got a new squeak from the front of the truck and I can't figure it out.

It is high pitched, comes in after 2000 RPM around 45+ MPH, sometimes it sounds like it is RPM dependent while other times its sounds like its drive train dependent, but it only makes noise while driving. I can't reproduce it in Park. My gut tells me its RPM dependant. However, my gut is full of beer.

It almost sounds like a dieing U-Joint, but at the speed of the engine. Sometimes it will make noise during a 45+ to 5 mph (and below 2000 rpm) gradual slow down; for example if i coasted from 60 to 5 on a highway off ramp. It does not always do this however. It does it with the HVAC on or off.

I checked the u-joints, they seem ok. I checked the belt tensioner. It seems a little sloppy. I can wiggle it to the front and back.

How much back and forth play should the tensioner have? What are the sounds/symptoms of bad front wheel bearings? Are there any transmission related sounds that sound like this? I had a new 4r55e put in back in the spring. The alternator is less than 1 year old and is working great, I have not looked at the PS pump.

I am getting ready for a road trip and I don't want to find out what is breaking when its completely broke.

Great A/V aide. That sound on the video is very similar to the mystery squeak. I'll have to check it out this weekend.

Thanks for the great post.
