new suspension/shocks?

ok, i dont want to spend alot of money...but would like something better than stock. what are some of my options? ive got a 94 eddie 4x4 explorer btw. right now its stock, getting 31x10.5r15's within weeks, but that is all.

search for F-150 coil seat and war153 shackles on this site. Front coil seats will get you about 1 5/8" of lift and I think the shackles are 2" lift. It will ride pretty much like stock and be able to fit your 31s no problem.

EDIT: You need coil spring seats from a 2wd 91 F-150, as long as your X is 4x4, they will bolt right in.

ok i did quite abit of reading on the shackles and the f150 leaf springs...aye my head is pretty confused with all this now.

this is what i have gathered.

shackles - bolt on, very easy. lift in the rear?

f150 leaf springs - dont understand. i kinda understand how to put it together and what to get...

can i do both shackles and f150 leaf springs? are these two things just lifting the rear only?

whats lifting the front? im learning alot right now...i really dont know much about cars, but am trying to learn .

No you don't want the F-150 leaf springs. You want the coil spring seats for the front. the shackles will lift the rear.

Is your Explorer 4x4? If it's 4x4 then the F-150 spring seats will work fine.

Front- Go to Ford dealer and ask for 91 F-150 2wd coil spring seat. I think they are around $30 - $40 each.
Rear- Part number WAR-153 shackles.

gotcha, if i get the skyjacker lift springs, is there still need for the 91 f150 coil spring seat?

Unless you want 3 5/8 lift. The spring seat will lift the front just under 2" You will not be able to align it if you get the coils and the seats without getting drop down brackets. Need to get one or the other.

HI... Quick question...

I've been searching a lot over the last few days concerning the f150 coil seats, but i've found people saying to buy

91 F150 2wd coil seats

and other saying to buy the

92-96 F150 2wd coil seats

My question is, will any of these models fit on a first gen X ?
If anyone can plz hurry and reply, I'm going to the junkyard tomorrow and wanna make sure i dont get stuck with the wrong part and wasted money.

They are like $40 from the dealer, and I bet the junk yard would charge about that much.

These are the part #s if you want to cross reference or call the dealer.

I price checked with the dealer today and gave 88-89 as a reference point and they were $54 + shipping (not in stock). The junkyard said it'd be $25 for the pair, so...

Alright, just got back from picking up the coil seats, but of course - as my luck (or lack thereof) will always show... there is a problem.

They said the seats came out of a 93 f150 2wd, but the seats aren't just plain round. They have a sort of "bracket" made on them w/ bolt holes at the end. (for stabilizer or sway bar, maybe??) I have no clue.

I'll post pics up soon, but I hope they will still work on my X. on the plus side, i only paid $5.30 for them.
