New to off-roading

My stock 96 Explorer leans too much on inclines. I have 28 inch tires. Will sway bar disconnects greatly reduce this? Are they worth it? Are they safe? And where can I get them?

Hi Keith,
The only place I know of is Perssons. The website says 98, but it will work on 95+ Explorers. They are not cheap, $117.00 per set, but are very well made and heavy duty.

Disconnecting the sway bars will give you better articulation and help get rid of some of that lean.
Are they safe. Yes

Oh! Get rid of those 28's and get some 31's. they'll fit just as is.

Won't 31's drop my gas mileage really bad. I get 19 highway now. Also what else would stop that lean, not too many people I hear have disconnects, at least there list of mods don't have them. Do larger tires, better shocks, and lifts take care of that?

You could also try doing a search for sway-bar disconnects. There was a topic not that long ago about sway-bars. Give it a shot.

It depends on what your gears are. I have 3.55's and run 31's and get 18.9MPG
Until just recently there was no one making a quick disconnect for 95+ models. Persson IS the ONLY one making a quick disconnect for 95+ models. What many of us do is unbolt them when we go 4wheeling, then put them back on whe we're finished. The backs are easy to get off and on, but the fronts take more time to get off and on. I'm getting pretty good at it though.
