I have an 06 X xlt, 4.0 v6.

I wanted to get a 2" hitch for it, since the little 1.25" doesnt do anything. I know the V6 isnt gonna tow much, but I have a horse trailer I need to move around every once in a while.

So I want to know.
How to go about replacing it.
Where to get one.
Price range.

I have equipment to do it myself, so I just need the part.

No matter what size hitch you put on it, the 4.0L with stock gearing is only rated for a class II.

Why not just get a 1.25" ballmount for the stock hitch?

I put an aftermarket 2" reciever on my explorer to tow a snowmobile trailer around. It's less then 3500 pounds so its been just fine. However, my book states the truck is rated to tow 5K pounds and im pretty sure I have the 3.55 gearing in mine.

The 4.0L and 4.6L with 3.55 gearing have 3500 lbs. max towing capacity.
