Hello everyone I just picked up a 91 explorer xt with a 5spd no power anything. I am looking at making it the vehicle I use to pickup and drop off my daughter everyday. So my main concern is reliablity I want to be able to get in every morning and start it up and go. I got this as a trade for a geo tracker I am a single dad and money is always an issue so any help whatso ever will be greatly appreciated. My one concern now is it sat for a year and a half and when parked it didnt have any problems, I know this cause it was my sisters, now when I start it it sounds like it has a rod knock. 
So I am thinking oil change going to 10-40 and new plugs and wires and see if it corrects itself but if not I'm afraid of a fried rod bearing. If that is the case approx. cost of such repair?
