I'm thinking about buying an '04 Sport Trac and am thinking of lowering it. I don't know yet if I'm going to buy a 4x4 or 2wd. I don't do the off road thing and would only need the 4wd a few times a year, if that. I really like the looks of the Adrenalin Concept by SVT and the Coppertone made by CGS Motorsports for the SEMA show. Has anyone on here lowered their truck? What kit did you use? Did it compromise the ride? Also, has anyone found any aftermarket body kits for this vehicle; bumper covers, side skirts, roll pans, etc.? Oh yeah, hello to everyone, my name is Scott.

This is not my truck. But one I saw at a car show here a few years back.
I'm sure its a custom air suspension.

For a less extreme lowering, I'm sure you can just adjust the torsion bars in the front and get lowering blocks in the rear.

Thanks Johnstone

Definitely too extreme for me. I would be going for the Adrenalin by SVT look. Not looking to bury the wheels. Just give it more of a sport truck look. Appreciate the pic's though.

The one on the left I believe was a 2wd Sport Trac lowered with by adjusting the front torsion bars and using 2" blocks in the rear.

Adrenalin is no longer an SVT model, just a package offered by Ford.

I don't know if they have them or anything but you can try www.stylinconcepts.com for body kits....

That's more the stance I'd be going for. I'll probably upgrade the wheel package too. Maybe someone who has done this to their's can chime in.

Thanks for the info, but I already tried them. No luck yet. I'm thinking because Truckin' is doing a build up of the Coppertone Sema truck, maybe Street Scene will be coming out with something.

if you pull the torsion bars out a little in the front and put some blocks in the back you could probably pull about an inch and a half off the ride... for anything more extreme you'd need a kit that replaces some parts of your suspension......and get the 2wd, if you're lowering you really are defeating the purpose of having a 4x4

Nothing wrong with lowering a 4wd like we talked about. He probably just wants the extra traction during winter time.

touche, i guess 4wd for me has always meant off road, no snow down here in fl

Thanks for the responses guys. It looks like this forum or at least the guys who view it are 4x4 guys. Is there no one out there who has read this thread that has lowered their's or knows someone who has. I understand about the torsion bars in the front, but does it compromise the ride? What blocks for the back, are there such things as generic blocks I'd pick up at a suspension shop? Questions I don't have answers to.

Thanks Steve. I checked it out and it was very helpful.

No problem.

I had a 96 V-8 2wd that I lowered. The suspension is basically the same as the ST. I took the bolts out of the front and ran a lift block from a Ranger in the rear. The lift block will lower the Explorers, you will need new U bolts also. The ride was not bad, it did hit the rear bump stops on dips. I was running 18x9's front and 18x10.5's in the rear.
