My completely uninformed prediction is that there will be a single all gasoline engine available, one full hybrid engine option, and a performance PHEV option while the PIU will maintain some form of NA V6. This is alongside both a standard range and an extended range electric option.

Not buying it. 2023 is essentially unchanged. 2024 will be the mid cycle refresh. That makes 2028 the all new Explorer. This long product life is especially true with fewer resources dedicated to gas based platforms.

4-5 years for mid cycle and 4-5 years for full replacement. On average 8-9 years between full replacements. So I agree, 2028 MY.
Debut could mean prototype which means 1 year late. So 2028MY in 2027 is possible.
