Nitrous 1994 Explorer

About a month ago I got Nitrous on my 1994 Explorer and I've been waiting to try it out at the track. Wednesday was the first Test & Tune night at Bandimere Speedway. Currently spraying 50 HP with NGK TR6 spark plugs. After a couple runs the spark plugs looked great. Probably gonna try a 75 shot sometime soon. I gotta thank user jd4242 for his help on getting the kit installed.

Up here at 5800 feet above sea level, cars run a lot slower. With only a KKM intake and Dynomax muffer my fastest run ever was 19.30 at 70 mph.

Quite a big drop in ET and good MPH gain. This kit was definatly worth it whether it's racing or just messing around on the streets.

I'd say you got your use out of it! It's hard to keep a 20 year old truck on the road, let alone a 30 year old truck. Sounds like a ton of memories were made with it that will be hard to beat. On to the next one......

Hello everyone,
Reviving and old thread and I'm not sure if anyone has read this in a long time, but a few weeks ago I had to finally give up the Exploder. Brakes gave out on my while driving, but thankfully I wasn't going fast and was able to bring it to a stop. The repair shop came back with the bill, I decided it wasn't worth repairing. That, the clutch wearing out, 1st gear would pop out while starting and with oil and coolant leaks getting worse, it was just the better financial decision to pull the plug.

This Explorer was my first car ever. I had it for 11 years and it reached over 200k miles on it. Ran nitrous on it up until 2019 and still kept running, traveling up 4x4 roads hunting, hauling all my stuff to and from college and so many other memories. There are very few vehicles out there that can do close to that. Truly Ford Tough.

This community here was incredible helpful as I learned to do repairs myself and build the Explorer for weekends at the dragstrip, so thank you all for that.

Farewell Exploder 🫡

You definitely did a lot with that Explorer, sorry to see it go. Best of luck with your future projects.:chug:

BTW, what was the best ET and MPH for your Explorer?

Quickest I ran was 16.08 at 87mph. Never made it into the 15s but it's tough up here with the thin air.

The altitude definitely kills HP. Any idea if the new track will be at lower elevation?

Are you asking the new location for Bandimere? Right now I've only heard rumors. Either Hudson or near Denver International Airport. Both locations are only a few hundred feet lower than Morrison so not a huge difference. Hope they do open though. I'd love to go see some races again.
