No Screen on MAF housing :S

I took off the MAF housing to clean the MAF sensor and there was no screen on the housing is that ok? It is a 2002 explorer sport 4.0L

I work with a guy that did that to his 03 silverado, completely screwed up the readings for the sensor, even lost fuel mileage. I told him to put it back in and it was fine. Im sure it will have the same effect on an x

i didnt take the screen off. There was no screen there at all when i removed the housing.

If it's not there, I wouldn't worry about it.
