Noisy power steering pump.

Sorry guys to bring this up again, but im a newbie to this forum just got a 1997 Explorer 5.0L from my uncle two weeks ago with a noisy power steering pump i know there are threads about this but does this also cover the 5.0L engine too, because all i see here on this thread about 4.0L

Can someone give me some input

It could also be the bottom-most idler pulley too. They like to go south on the 5.0L

If the noise changes with RPM but doesn't change when you turn the wheel, check the pulley...
 






Turning the steering wheel left then right isn't going to help me, I kinda know that this doesn't work because I had 5.0L mustang with same issue way back and didn't find a cure for a cure back then anyone can tell me. The noisy is driving me nuts
 






Noisy PS pumps are a common problem on most Ford vehicles. If the noise is more than you can handle you can try replacing the pump and flushing the fluid, but there is no guarantee that the noise will go away 100%.

After changing and bleeding pump,new upper idler, new fan, new tensioner, it did turn out to be the lower idler pulley. Sounded like bad hydraulic pump, and noise seemed to be coming from pump area. Live and learn
