Just found this site while I was looking for some alternator answers. Looks like a good idea so I will check from time to time for updates and will always need help. I am not an expert under the hood, so you will prolly see my name here often.

My 98 XLT went haywire on the way to work this morning as my alternator decided to crap out. I was able to make it to an Autozone to verify the problem, get a quick charge and drive it back home. Now I am shopping for a new one. I have the 4WD 4.0 SOHC, and I need to know if I can use a cheaper 95 amp, or do I have to shell out for the 130 amp? I bought it used, so I don't know if it has a keyless entry as the fob did not come with.

Welcome to this forum! Elite members could start new threads in the 911 forum only. Anybody could add a post to an existing thread. Posts could only be bumped once in a 24 hour period. I would recommend the higher amp alternator since the lower amp model has to work harder to achieve a similar output.
