o/d light doesnt come on when button is pressed.

Any one know where i should start looking?

the o/d light doesnt come on when i press the button, i have a 95 explorer sport 4.0 ohv.

I had the same problem with my 97 4.0 ohv. I had a short that kept blowing the fuze that controlled the OD. Have you checked the fuze for your OD?

Common Ford disease for this type of shifter is for the wires to break where they come out of the shifter and connect to the steering column.

thank you, I will check the fuse first, if that is good then I will take the trim around the steering wheel and look at the wires to make sure they arent disconnected. thank you for your help.

Also-
the switch itself sometimes fails. It is a "momentary" switch.

Don't forget the lamp...it could just be burnt out.
