I have a 1995 Ford Explorer 4.0L pushrod.

I got a 172 code HEGO (HO2S) Sensor Fault/Lean

My questions are, how many O2 sensors do I have? And Also if I have more than 1 should replace them all?

No doubt I will be back to ask more questions
Thank you for your patience

A code 172 is bank 1, but you should have upstream sensors on both banks.

IF a sensor is worn out, then I would replace both upstream sensors, but this code can also come from a vac leak, exhaust leak, or dirty MAF sensor. Considering the age of the vehicle, if it isn't too much trouble, I might go ahead and replace the O2 sensors to see if that resolves it, since they aren't very expensive (Bosch or Denso on Rock Auto are about $25 each), though it might be a good idea to first do an inspection for vac leaks.

Does it seem to run normally including at idle?

So we checked for a vac leak and didn't find one.

To me it seems to idle okay. It doesnt seem to idle high or low the gage shows 1 or 1.5 .Sometimes but not often there's a hiccup also yesterday while I took my foot of the gas my vehicle died whole engine shut right off it started right back up but I felt like it wanted to die a couple times more but I cursed it out and it didn't.

So I have 2 O2 sensors? And they are upstream?
Sorry I'm just trying to make sure so I can order the parts from RockAuto

You should have 1 upstream sensor for each bank. Right behind the upstream cats. The downstream sensors are right before second cat.

Might want to get under and find- familiarize yourself now. Follow exhaust pipe from engine back.

There are no down stream 02 sensor after the cat on the 95.
