Hello!!!
I'm trying to build a carputer with "trip computer" for my Explorer.
There are a lot of softwares to show fuel consumption reading OBDII codes but, unfortunatly, my Explorer (1994) has only OBD I and I cannot find nothing :roll::roll: .....
Please help me....

Unfortunately you won't find any.
OBDI just doesn't do that.

You could write your own if you wanted though.
Injector pulse rate, duration and size would give you consumption rate.
Speed sensor, differential ratio and tire size gives you speed.
Then do some division.
Easy as pie.:D

Or just find a cheap second generation with the message center all ready installed. The way things are going you coudl probably find a good one for cheap.

A second generation Explorer??? I am living in Italy and Ford Explorer is not imported here....Finding an Explorer was very difficult, finding another Explorer will be a miracle :D ...
Ok, no problem, I like my Explorer as it is ;) !!! Thanks for all

The Message Center made it's debut in the 1995 Limited & Eddie Bauer. The 1995 Explorers were also OBD1...

So, it's possible use a '95 Explorer Message Center on a first generation Explorer (1994)?

as I understand it, the 1995 was ODB-I BUT had some of the odb-II features.. I'm not sure you can get the '95 message center the information it needs from a 1991-1994.

The gas tank changed in 1995 and there is another sensor in those tanks too...

Yes it CAN be done...

So I have to use an additional sensor in th gas tank, isn't it?
