- 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
Hi Guys,
I recently purchased a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport with 96,000 original miles a few weeks ago private sale. Huge stack of service records, I gave it a very thorough inspection and it passed with flying colors. Recently I noticed one issue with the truck. I deliver seasonally for UPS out of my own vehicle. After a long day of shifting between park and drive many times at each stop, I will occasionally have the truck get stuck in park. For some reason this only has happened when I'm parked on a slight incline at the package hub. I'll park, load up and then when I go to engage reverse and let off the brake, the truck doesn't move, same with neutral. If I turn off the truck and start it back up, shifts no issue immediately. I just experienced this issue for the second time and want some advice on what could be a known issue with these trucks that causes this. The first time this happened, I shifted into reverse, gave it some gas and the truck remained in place and then all of a sudden clunked into gear and lurched back. Obvious disclaimer that e-brake wasn't on either time. Thanks in advance
