This afternoon the OD light started flashing after slowing in the outside lane. Having read up on this in the past, this seems to suggust the EPC and possibly the main body seal that has failed. Has anyone else had this problem, i assume you can keep driving with the OD light on, i assume in the end it must be fixed?

iv been driving with it flashing since xmass, only cos of my 3rd slipping in and sometimes hard changing, also when warm my reverse is slow to go in, so its all leading to gaskets and the overdrive solinoid after reading the code.

That is interesting, so you can keep driving it with the OD light flashing, the only side effect being the fact that you are missing a gear, increasing the revs on the motorway. I assume the light burns out after a while, lol.

What sort of mileage have you done since christmas?

iv done roughly 6000 miles, but have that light checked out with a code reader as it will tell you wahts wrong, my bulb wont blow as iv got a white LED in its place lol, but my gearbox deffently needs attention, abit of dismantling to check gaskets/solenoids and valve body etc

agree chaps, that could be expensive!
check the levels and what you can- for me I would make sure the gaskits are good and then do a complete flush and fill.
Expensive I believe but it wont hurt- also drop the pan and change the filter too thats vital.

I disconnected the battery for 45 minutes, and the light stopped flashing and hasn't come back on yet (40 miles). Fluid is at the correct level, I changed the filter and new fluid about a year ago.

The check engine light comes on every few months and i just disconnect the battery and it goes away again.
