The drain plug on my X is stripped, not the threads, but the bolt itself...i don't think i did it, becuase it didn't work the first time i tried it, i didn't kno it was metric until i looked and i used a regular socket on it...but i dont know...how do i get this out now and where do i get a new one?

You can get another drain plug at any parts store.. To remove the stripped one, you could possibly use a 12 point socket or try getting a pair of vice grips or something to turn it..

Had the same issue on mine when i first bought it. PO took it to one of the quicky lube places and it appears they used channel locks on it since it was new. It was also tightened to about 1000 ft.lbs. Vice grips wouldnt move it. Here is what i did-

Get a grinder and a large crescent wrench. Grind 2 sides of the head down so it will be long and skinny. You want it to match up with the cresent wrench as best as it can. After trying everything (including heating it) this was the only thing i could do that worked. Run to Autozone to get a new one.

Alright, i am going to go buy a new one, but they say they have a 13mm and a 15mm...and it seemed as tho a 17mm socket fit on mine when i tried to get it off? does anyone kno the size of the drain plug? need to kno ASAP!
