Anyone whos done the oil pressure gauge mod wanna gimme some info as to where your gauge points @ hot idle and also @ 2000 rpms?

Anyone put pressure to the sender and marked psi on the gauge either?

Anyways, the mod went good, other than me messing up the gas gauge and making it read maxed out all the time. Probably a ground issue.

So what did you do, modify the 'gauge' so it is constantly changing? Sounds pretty interesting.

I replaced the oil pressure sender with one from a '84 F-150 I-6...then pulled the cluster and bypassed the 20 ohm resistor near the oil pressure gauge. Now the gauge responds to changing oil pressure conditions, instead of always reading in the middle.

That's a good idea, the stock "gage" is off or on.

I'd like to see an adept person modify the cluster and add digital displays next to the gauges. There is room next to the main gauges, but I have no experience with LED displays. I'd love to have proper gauges for water temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. Regards,

Yeah if I can get someone who has the gauge labeled with pressures, then I could go and mark mine.

hmmmm.......i would really like to do this myself ,with 194k on it i really would like to know what the oil pressure is really doing in real time .84 f150 i6 sending unit ... is the wire harness connector the same ..direct hook up ? and bypassing the resistor just a jumper ???

Yeah you unscrew the old sender, and screw in the new sender. The new sender is quite big, but it fits. The wire is a little tough to reconnect to it, because its right next to a power steering line (which Ill be watching for signs of rubbing), but it can be done.

The you just pull the cluster, and I cut the 20 ohm resistor out and placed a wire in its spot.

You probably should find a different gauge to compare pressure levels to be able to mark the stock display/needle. Night,

Here is what I got for our modified '92 gauge.

60psi is the L in normal...
40psi is O/R
20psi is the N

I checked it by hooking up my air compressor to the sending unit and then used a label maker on the dash...

Thanks Maniak

I was hoping you'd come along at some point.

So far everything, besides my gas gauge, left blinker light, check engine, and check oil are working fine. I think Ive got a connection problem somewhere.
