why don't you replace the oil pressure switch?
Also use a ford oil pressure switch socket. The auto part stores have it in their tool section.
Go thru the driver side wheel well area. Half of hour at the most.

This turned out to be longer than I expected. So TL,DR is I figure if I can jump the harness and the gauge works then I'll know the oil pressure sensor/switch is truly bad. If it doesn't fix the gauge then I have a different wiring issue that I'll need to start looking into.

I did the the 5L swap and reading the thread below I don't know if I didn't the wire harnesses correctly. My only 2 real issues at the moment is the oil pressure gauge reads 0 and my ac compressor won't kick on. I have it on a switch so I can kick it on when I absolutely need it. I'm 95% sure the issue there is I don't have a high pressure switch installed. I was gonna look and see if I could find the harness that the thread talks about but I didn't get a chance to.

The oil pressure switch do go bad, common issue on fords

It’s in the wiring I betchya

The oil pressure wire and ac wires go through the same plug and you must wire them correctly or you will get these issues

You should start a I did a v8 swap thread so we can help you sort it out
Need details about what went into what and how

Thank you. Will do once I can provide some information. It's been a a few years so I've got to look and see if I can remember what all was done etc.

So this was a v6 explorer went v8? 2001 with a sohc v6 now v8

The v8 and v6 wire the ac, alternator, and a few other things differently including the oil pressure switch wire and ac high pressure switch and compressor clutch
