I'm trying to improve the ride in my 01 XLT and I'm thinking new tires. It has some BF goodrich's on it, they probably have a year worth of tread on them.

The truck rides really hard. It feels like I've got the tires way over-inflated, but they are at about 30. I took it down a gravel road last weekend and I seriously thought the truck was just going to rattle completely apart.

Any suggestions? I'm 90% on road highway driving.

Do they have a year's worth of tread left or a year's worth of tread wear? A year's worth a wear should not make that big a difference. Have you replaced the shocks? That would be the first thing to look at when trying to improve the ride.

I had the shocks replaced about 4 months ago. I put in the sensa-tracs.

Ok, but you didn't answer my question. Do they have a year's worth of wear or a year's worth of tread left?

I'm just saying that they look like they will get me through another winter before I have to replace them. There's still a decent amount of tread left, but no where near as good as new tires.

I don't know how long they've been on the truck since I just bought it a few months ago.

I'm fighting the same thing on my '98. The ride didn't improve when I replaced the tires about 3 months ago, but I got A/T tires with a high treadwear rating, and used an LT235 instead of a P235. I think I may have goten a better ride from a P235 with softer rubber. I also replaced my shocks, about a year before the tires. If you're 90% on-road, you might think about an all-season, or a mild all terrain tire. They may ride a bit softer.
