I have had the 2-3 flare, and hounded my dad on doing the valve body rebuild on my 5r55e. by the way, it has 104000 miles on it. He thought that that would be too risky because neither one of us has had to do any tranny work. So, he insisted on taking it to AAMCO. I told them what i thought the problem was, especially since my symptoms were exactly as described from everyone else. Well, AAMCO says that all the clutches are burnt, i need a new torque converter and they will replace the EPC and all solenoids. this all comes to about $1850. I saw the clutches, they had some heat spots on them, but will that cause any slippage? And are they yanking us? I think my biggest mistake was not printing the 5r55e valve body rebuild diary and giving it to them. also, how much do you think it is worth? Everything else is flawless. It is a 2001 Eddie Bauer 4x4 with the 4.0 SOHC. Thanks.
