Welp, it is time to say goodbye to my beloved 2nd gen. At 183K miles there is simply too many things that need to be fixed, so it was time to upgrade.
Me and the gf started our hunt for a replacement back in Early May, by looking at some Trailblazers and Envoys. We eventually came across a 2004 Trailblazer EXT LT that we both liked, but it failed the PPI and the seller is ****ing me out of my $200 deposit. So, we expanded our search to other vehicles we both liked, Expeditions and Grand Cherokees. Found a couple of both, but there were either issues with the vehicle (one of the Expeditions had the dreaded 3v cylinder head tapping) or the seller was smoking some good weed to get the prices they wanted. It became an absolutely hellish task, that resulted in tons of stress and fights. We had a couple decent options on the table, and we agreed we'd just choose among them and be done with it.
Cut to Thursday night. I come home from what was supposed to be a long day, but it actually was a pretty decent day that wasn't very taxing. So I decide while I'm in a good mood, to look on Cars.com and see what vehicles were posted that day. Out of nowhere I see what appears to be a mint condition 03 Mountaineer Luxury AWD V8 with 89K miles for $5,995 at a local Cadillac dealer. I knew it had to come in on trade, and I also knew that is was most likely a cherry, otherwise they would've just sent it straight off to auction. So yesterday I had off, so we went down to the dealer and looked it over. It turned out to be immaculate. So we put a deposit down pending a PPI. My mechanic met us at the dealer this morning, and the vehicle passed with flying colors, and my mechanic couldn't believe how little they were asking for it. So, we took delivery of it this afternoon. I almost feel guilty we paid only $6K, because the interior is in ridiculously good shape, and it drives like it has 40K miles on it.
So while the 2nd gen is heading off to the JY sometime this week, we did keep it in the family.
