Overhead Console Retrofit Mounting Questions

The last thing I need to figure out with my '91 OHC install is if I can run very short sheet metal screws to hold the metal bracket to the roof. Or will they poke through on the outside?

I searched and searched this forum but could not come up with an answer. I know the '93's and up had some threaded screw holes to mount the metal bracket. All I need to know is if the roof on my 91 is double walled in the area where the bracket goes.

If worse comes to worse I'll use a heavy dose of 2 sided trim mounting tape.

I'm not 100%, but I'd say it's one layer.

I screwed mine in place with a 1/4" sheet metal screw....

Ryan, did your rig have the holes for a console or did you just kind of line it up where you felt it fit and shoot in a couple screws? What year splorer did you do it on?
