So, I replaced the water pump on my wife's 2017 Explorer 3.5 NA. During the process, I got a rag wound up on the RH intake cam while lining up timing marks. It broke the position sensor - dang it!. I also had to loosen and move the cam phaser out of the way to get the upper chain guide our of the way (contrary to You Tube info).
Anyway, I reassembled it all, fished out the rag pieces, and replaced the position sensor. It promptly posted a P0016 message and MIL. I've successfully done timing chain stuff before and figured the cam phaser didn't appreciate being horsed around. I swapped intake cam sensors before I sucked it up and took the timing case apart again. I checked the VVT solenoid and replaced the cam phaser. It's still posting the same code, even after performing the misfire margin correlation. Any ideas? Is it possible the cam position targets shifted on the cam?

Thanks!

Mike
