There are a lot of posts on here for this buggar of a code. From what I understand after reading on EF and other forums:

>Could be line noise from a flaky Alternator Voltage Regulator
>Could be a Cam Position Sensor
>Could be a bad ECM / PCM
>Could be a worn Cam Shaft Bore
>Could be a vacuum leak (If associated with P0171)
>Could be bad plug wires
>Could be bad coil

Anyways I am going to start by inspecting the Camp Position Sensor and harness. But I am wondering if anyone can point me to the "Spout Plug" -This plug must be disconnected when removing or replacing the Cam Sync - so that the computer can "reset" it's timing...

Hey Raga I'll answer since no one else will,

I did a search and the consensus seems to be that the code is either going to be

> cam sync that is defective
> cam sync that was installed without removing the "Spout" plug (needed so the ECM can retime the motor)
> cam sync misaligned
> electrical interference to the sensitive low voltage signal wires going to the cam sync sensor.
> crankshaft position sensor noise

Thanks for the reply Raga,
But I still have more questions:

>Where is this Spout Thingy? Have any pics?
>Do I need special tools to re re the cam sync?
>Where is the Cam Sync Anyways and will I have to remove my intake manifold plenum?

Thanks Buddy!

I found a good conversation on Ford-Truckforums regarding this very issue (again - lending to the replacement of the Cam Sync)

"P1309 Misfire Detection Monitor not enabled

That one is a bit trouble some, because it says not enabled, I would believe this a ECM calibration issue or the ECM is not receiving a signal it expects and is disabling misfire detection on it's own. I think the second is most likely, the mechanic may not have reconnected everything or if the CPS is solving the problem for short stents, the replacing it might be the cure. "

Here is a fantastic thread deling with installing a new Cam sync sensor - it is for an earlier Gen Exploder but might give you an idea on what you are up against.

Also a fantastic read because because Motopsycho actually replied back with the results (A huge plus for people searching for answers)

What does the Cam Synchronizer do anyways?

Well the cam sync (as far as I have read so far) actually determines the cam location in correlation with the crankshaft. It retards or advances the fuel injection.

If the Cam Sync detector breaks or malfunctions it throws a P1309 Code : "Misfire monitor chip fault monitor disabled" this basically translates to the ECM or (PCM) going into a "default" mode and instead of collecting data by both the cam sync and the cps - crank position sensor for optimal power and efficiency - it used data ONLY from the CPS.

When this happens the truck can idle rough, lack power and get poor mileage. but it will run without the cam sync. If the CPS breaks also then you will get a code P0304 and the truck will not run.
