Pa 853 steering shaft extension bolt!!! Help! !!

[35's on mine]

The extension bolt does not slide on the upper shaft all the way. On my explorer the upper steering shaft has a metal nub keeping the extension from go all the way on. Should I grind this nub down??????

The difference is about 1/8" correct?

Seems like i had to grind off bit when I installed a 97 shaft to my 98 mounty a long time ago-I see no problem with shortening the shaft.

I remember on my old 97, we had to grind a little nub on the steering shaft. Use a die grinder and grind it down to fit.
