How are you painting them?
The color code should be on a sticker on your explorer.
If you're talking about using Krylon fusion paint, all you can do is get a silver and
try it.
I used krylon fusion on my black 04 explorer and love the result. It's not an exact color match but it's alot better then the gray plastics it came with. And it holds up very well with normal driving.
Let me save you a headache, $$$, and some shame... If you choose to do the bumpers, do them at the same time, and make them look right. I used, by mistake, one paint up front and another on the rear. I had to re do the rear 5 times, and it still isn't 100% (but I wanted the plastics off anyways)
Krylon Fusion comes in like 4 or 5 types... it says no primer needed. IT'S TRUE! No primer... learned the hard way. Some of the clips used to hold the plastics cannot be found in stores.
Thanks for the links, i was thinking on doing this to my X, and i was gonna take it to a shop to do the work, but now that i see the krylon fusion i had about 4 cans of it, and i'll do it my self
