Parking Brake Shoe Springs - Cant get them re-attached

Any tips on getting the springs back in? I tried screw drivers, brake spring tools, witchcraft, etc... nothing works. Am I missing a trick?

I used a set of needle nose vise grips to muscle them back on..

Did you get it? I used a screwdriver and used it like a lever then once I had it stretched far enough I was able to push down on the top with a needle nose.
 






Advance auto has a brake spring tool that uses the same principles as the awl. T handle with a hook at the other end.

A little cussing. Some skinned knuckles (because that damned spring lets loose a micrometer short of being in, only nice thing is since the spring is somewhat covered when it lets loose it falls to the ground instead of being shot 150 feet into the neighbors yard).
Relax and take a deep breath and I bet that spring goes in the next time you try.

Jeez I hate drum brakes! :D
