 Please help! I have a '92 X with a 5-speed and really need my parking brake with winter coming and all.
Does anyone know how to losen a brake cable that sticks, or somehow diconnect the cable for the side that is sticking? I'm pretty sure it's the drivers side. When i replaced the rear shoes last spring, shorty after i purchased it, I discovered that the brakes on the drivers side were completly shot. The material on the shoes were actually breaking off. Not really sure how that happened, but I'm thinking that for whatever reason it happened, the parking brake sticks for the same, or a similar reason. Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave!:D

The key is to use it often...otherwise it will stick.

Try searching for this, it has been discussed many times.

Mine used to stick anytime I used it in the freezing weather, so I actually tried to avoid using it in the winter.

Try spraying the cables and rear of the drums with de-icer or Wd-40 (if not frozen)...

parking brake sticks

Thanks 410, i tried a search and no luck. When I replaced the brakes on it last spring, i lubed everything up good with anti-sieze compound, installed a new spring kit and new cylinders. I mentioned how the rear shoes on the drivers side were in such bad shape, well, the parking brake worked before i put the new brakes on. so I'm thinking its that side. I'll try squirting some WD-40 in there and see what happens. Thanks again.:p
