Part Numbers for Rear Shocks with ARC

1998 AWD LTD with ARC (including the electronic stiffeness control). The rear air ride control is dead. The compressor kicks in, makes a lot of noise, but nothing moves. Not sure what the problem is, but am suspecting that one or both shock absorbers are leaking air. Rock Auto's online catalog has confusing part numbers, and they couldn't tell me anything beyond that. Can anyone provide the correct Motorcraft part numbers for those? Many thanks in advance!

The parts ASHV892 (LR) and ASHV15 (RR) from Rock Auto should be correct. If you want to guarantee an exact macth, go under the truck with a flashlight and pencil/paper. The part numbers are embossed into the side of the shock.

More often than not one of the air lines develops a leak so you may want to check them before changing the shocks and finding your problem is still there. Put a jack under the frame to lift and lower the rear end so the pump engages with the truck keyed on but not running to listen for any hissing. Take a spray bottle with diluted dish soap to wet all the line connections from the pump back the shocks themselves and look for bubbles. Good luck!
