Am I crazy or are the petals on the Ford Explorer kind of.... weird?
The brake and gas pedals are at different altitudes. After driving another car for a couple days then coming back to the Explorer, I noticed that you can't really pivot your foot between the break and gas pedal like you could in other cars. With each brake and gas input, you pretty much have to fully lift your foot and reposition it..
Anyone else notice this? I'm considering getting some new pedals, although it isn't something I'm familiar with

Not saying your crazy but I don't see anything weird with the pedals. They are the same as the ones I had on my 2011 Explorer, 2014 MKT and my current 2017. Also I don't have to lift my foot to activate the brake. I just pivot on the ball of my foot. I think every car I've owned had the same setup.

I'm going to go with AFKNinja on this one. It was very noticeable when I first got the Explorer and have driven lots of different types of cars. But I actually like having that amount of depth separation. Feels safer to drive. There have been a couple instances where I accidentally touched both pedals at the same time (on non-Explorers).

Okay, no argument from me. I guess because my previous ones had the same setup I didn't notice the difference.

Yeah, the geometry is a little weird in these cars. I can't put my foot on it.

No pun.

I agree...there's something off with the pedals. the angle my foot is at when on the brakes seems like my toes are pointing directly up instead of on an angle.

That's what i noticed the first time i drove the Explorer. Pivoting my foot from gas to brake makes me hit the arm and the pedal and had to adjust them all the way towards the firewall which is a little better but i still catch the arm at times.

Yes, they are off and not perfectly leveled.
No wonder I couldn't heel/toe properly.LOL
