I have an 02 XLS (3rd gen)
I have absolutely no idea about chips or electronic engine mods, but my buddy sent me this link

http://slrmotorsports.com/

If anyone knows anything about this type of mod or any suggestions for how i can elecrtonically boost my HP and TQ.

Thanks
Nick !!!!!

Rule of thumb, if it sounds too good to be true, it is. If's cheap, it does nothing.

Choose any two (that's all you can hope for in the modding game):

Cheap
Reliable
Fast

Now if you want real tuning, go to sctflash.com and then hensonperformance.com (an SCT dealer and site sponsor...lots of happy customers on EF).

Your link didn't work for me first time, but I sense you're sending to me yet another snake oil vendor. There are many of them out there.

I see your link works now.

50 HP for 70 bucks? Right.......

As I expected, snake oil. The only thing those things do is lighten your wallet which can conceivably improve mileage. ;)

Yeah, like i said i know nothing about the electronics in my x
Those both are a lil more than i'd like to spend

Thanks anyhow

Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. This site has scores of happy SCT customers. Sure, it's not cheap, but I personally love the results. My stock '99 Explorer felt like it was programmed for soccer moms. Boring and harsh shift points. I was actually surprised how dull the 5.0 felt in stock form relative to a stock SOHC V6 Explorer (which I drove for years in stock and custom tuned form).

My truck is much more driveable since I entered the world of custom programming. Mileage increases? Unlikely, because I stomp on it too much. :D

Do they even have the rights to post all of those cars up there?? I can guarantee you that the Saleen 'Stang does NOT have that cheap pos in it...They offer the same chip for all models of explorer as well. That in itself throws red flags all over the place

Lol,
yeah i guess this would be a total waste.

thanks for the assistance

Find a local speed shop with a dynamometer. That will be your best bet. Not the cheapest. But dyno tuning works out all your kinks. Custom tune by e-mail will be your most cost effective solution.
