I installed a TRE performance in tank fuel pump. It pumps 255lph and has a max psi of 100.
I dropped the tank. Could not get the “quick” disconnects off, so I pulled the pump and fuel level sending unit out while still attached to the car. I replaced the pump, had to custom splice the connector on, put it back into the tank. Seamed to fit correctly and smoothly. The little rubber pins are in the right holes. The pump runs. The engine runs. The first time I drove the car I could tell the computer didn't know what to do with the extra pressure. It smelled rich and when shifting gears at full throttle it would back fire. After 2 days the ECM fixed the problem with out throwing a code. i thought it was all good.
Tonight the gauge was reading a little under a quarter of a tank. Then I went around a corner to get on to an on ramp there was no throttle response. The engine stayed at idle. It then picked up RPM. I turned again it did it again. So I figured that the gauge in screwed up and the when it is reading 1/8 to 1/16 it is actually empty. I got gas. It has not done it again yet.
Or it could be a bad TPS it doesn't know that the pedal is moving
Or it could be a bad fuel pressure regulator that is allowing too much fuel when I tap the gas.
What do you guys think?
hope i dont have to drop the tank again :fire:
