This may not be the correct forum for this but...

Does anyone know of any shop in the Northeast, preferably Massachusetts that does good work with turbo vehicles? Even better if its turbo Fords :)

Looking to purchase a downpipe but want to make sure I have a place that is trustworthy that can do the work.

Thanks!

Have you looked into Tasca Ford in RI? They have a performance shop and do all sorts of ecoboost performance upgrades. They might even be able to tune with the new SCT device.

I have not, I will look into that. I was going buy an X4 as well so that would be beneficial.

Thank you for the suggestion Moose.

I'm not too far from where this shop is in RI and decided to touch base with them to see what options they have for the Ford Explorer 2011+ SPORT models. I've copied and pasted the reply I got back from the shop below in this post.

Does anyone think this would be worth it? I've never made any performance upgrades on previous vehicles I've owned and am having a tough time trying to understand how much performance I'd notice from this stage 1 upgrade option.

FROM THE SHOP:

"At this time we only have a stage 1 package which gains 30hp and 60 ft lbs of torque. This is just an ECU calibration and drop in high flow filter which can be installed for $715"

This would take 2 hours and can be done while you wait.

You are better off getting an x4 and flashing it yourself. I think I paid $400 for my x4 and $40 for my drop in filter. Unless they are dyno tuning I would say it's not worth it. My unleashed tune made a huge difference in power. It chips the tires on the 1-2 shift at wot.

Hmm yours chirps? I go into ballistic wheelhop mode. I'd much rather have a chirp ! I might need to speak to Torrie...

But yes, just what he said. If they are charging that much for an ECU tune and filter, read up on the options and get the ECU tune online for much less. If they are offering the ECU service, they are probably familiar enough with the vehicle to at least install the down pipes..You would hope at least!

9 times out of 10 it chirps them. I do get the occasional quick wheel hop scenario but it lasts a 1/2 second or so. Its just a split second what I would call shudder then its fine and it only happens on the 1-2 shift. It seems like all the tunes have this issue from what I gather.

I got in contact with them awhile back with the question of the tune and filter install. They wouldn't install anything "not approved" from Ford. Which meant everything on my list. As of right now if I ordered a downpipe, I wouldn't have anyone to install it. Probably will just save my money unless I see significant gains with one.
