2013 XLT FORD EXPLORER
I do not even have a 1000 miles on my 2013 and I have yet to have the MFT work correctly. It is always rebooting, the nav only works when it wants to, I get all sorts of pop ups telling me of various system failures, for example if I plug in only the phone charging cord into the USB a pop up tells me that this is causing excessive power consumption and the SYNC may not work. This pop up will not go away until I unplug the cord. The thumb drive with my music on it has been rebooted more times then I can count. Just a real piece of junk. I traded an F 150 King Ranch with the SYNC that was flawless and thought I was getting the same quality with the Explorer. Ford has been dealing with this for 3 model years and they have let this continue, SHAME ON THEM. I don't know if the memory in the system can't support the software or not but they better fix it or I am going to lemon law this thing. The vehicle is very nice I get great gas mileage, the ride is comfortable, and it looks good, but something like this ruins all those positives. I use my car for work and I need these features to work the way they are supposed to. It goes in the shop Friday, let's see what happens.

I really think you have issues with the system hardware, because you've had the "power consumption" thing with your phone charger going on since new. Something is amiss in there, and it could all be related.

For MFT to properly break-in, you need to drive another 1-2,000 more miles. It took me over 36,000 miles for MFT to break-in. Now it's great.

LOL, technology break-in period...they forgot to put that one in the manual! :D

I have ~600 miles on my 2013 and MFT is working pretty well for me - taking into account that it is a Microsoft product and not as user-friendly as an Apple version would have been.

It plays pretty well with my iPhone 4s, voice recognition and bluetooth are great for phone calls, Nav has been pretty good the two times I've used it (although I need to figure out how to get the voice updates to chill out - I don't need to be reminded of an upcoming turn 4 times...). All in all, not as rough as i had feared given the prior version horror stories.

Hope your dealer can assist!

This is *not* a Microsoft product... it is a FORD product. It's built on top of a Microsoft product. The Microsoft portion of this product is solid, stable, and has years of production experience, the Ford portion of this product is a mess.

I am in love with Apple products btw, I just think that credit for the mishaps should be applied where it belongs.

I didn't say anything about the stability - I said that the Microsoft platform is not as user friendly as Apple.

love that break in comment awesome !!

And I was just clarifying that Microsoft had nothing to do w/ this particular user interface. The development of the user interface is all Ford (and it's contract companies)

Add this to the list of crazy SYNC problems. I was driving with my daughter and listening to the radio when out of the blue my Sync system told me "Thank you" 5 or 6 times while I was driving. I have a ghost. What a piece of junk. I have had the car less then 3 weeks.

Seconded, why is there a wheel in the passenger side of the windshield, and why is the windshield in the passenger seat?

I am sorry about your wreck and hope everyone was OK, but how is this post tied to the topic of this thread? I doubt that this accident was SYNC related. Was this post designed to get off topic?

Was this post designed to get off topic?
Sorry, but it was designed to go off topic because for those of us who have been around for a while, it is JAFMFTT (Just another MFT thread!)

Sounds like you are having at least two issues - one is that you are plugging a device into the USB port that has a high current draw.

Two, your unit may be having some problems, and a trip to the dealer is in order.

Three (and a maybe) you have a phone that is causing problems.

But other than a rant, there is not enough information for anyone to really help you figure out what is going on with your system

My SYNC and MFT work flawlessly and I haven't upgraded yet....sorry about your luck....I love my "piece of junk"!:D

Maybe if more of these rants get posted Ford will get the message. The system needs to be reworked and a new radio/MFT needs to be developed. There is no excuse for this to continue to occur for goin g on 3 years. They have addressed it with a band aid. This may be just another JAFMMFT but I thought this is what these threads are supposed to be about. I for one am new to this site and I suspect others are too. I hope I can alert others as to the various problems that I am having with my unit so others can use this information if they need to. Therefore I would request that we allow this thread to remain on topic and put the monkey back in it's cage.
