Please help transmission rebuild problem

If I remember correctly an AC clutch pulls about 10 amps. Most radiator fans also pull about 10 amps. So do heater AC fans on high.

hmm.. well I plan to have the a/c checked for low freon. Its the only random thing I can think of that is causing the issue. Here is something I am curious about. I turned on my a/c and gently applied the brakes and the truck sat, but then it kinda lunged (more of creeping lung). Then stopped and rolled back, then it did it again. It was the a/c clutch cycling. It was literally moving the truck forward and at some point if I left my foot still gently on the brake pedal and it started moving forward just in little bits. Thoughts?

I don't know what you rewired or why but the signal to the computer that the ac is on should be wired to the AC on circuit and not the AC clutch. Just a thought as it sounds like the computer is increasing the idle every time the AC clutch cycles. I assume it was in Drive when it tried to go forward.

Disregard the last part of the first sentence above. (but the signal to the computer that the ac is on should be wired to the AC on circuit and not the AC clutch) This was an error on my part. The PCM controls the AC relay and the relay controls the AC clutch, the PCM gets it's signal internally.

I rewired my IAC connection. I also disconnected my "t-tap" on the a/c and surprisingly 3/4 shift was great. Though now the damn converter wants to lock and then lock hard (lockup clutch?) which my radio has a tendency to fall out already but it literally fell out into my hands. crappy after market holder, but is that normal? 50mph or slightly before there is lockup, then this slam lockup shortly after. almost like it builds and then bam! your moving.

New route for me is TPS adjusting the voltage to be perfect and possibly going back and using your solder and shrink wrap on all connections. Its the only real way to ensure things are right. I trusted someone to extend my TPS wires and a few other connections. I mean it is what they do for a living, I just think some things need that extra attention.

A harsh lockup is not normal, if I remember correctly you installed a high stall converter, it will be different than stock and lock up may be firmer but I wouldn't think it would be as harsh as you describe. Well I am all out of suggestions, to many modes, do get the freon checked and good luck, keep us updated on the progress.

Agreed, I drove it today with the windows down and there was no issues for the entire trip. I have realized that t-tap is a nightmare of a user error. I did not get to cut the tap out and thought it would be enough. Sadly not the case, its a solid drop in a/c clutch relay line (white with black stripe). Which until I remove it and it gets patched up with nice solder and heat wrap will continue to plague me during a/c function. In short, I plan to fix this tonight or possibly this weekend depending on permitting light.

I want to thank wood and richie, you guys have truly help keep some sanity during this process. I thought I had been swindled by parts and people not giving me answers. Though you guys help me realize this is a check and balance transmission, where isolating the problem is only as hard as you make it.

Well I'm not sure I was that much help man but that's what we are here for. Glad to be of some service. I do agree with PR77, solder and heat shrink, never those crimp connectors. I've cut out many autostarters where people have used them and I have seen some nasty burned and melted connections. We only ever soldered and never had a problem in the hundreds of units we installed. You can't go wrong with solder.

I forgot to ask you, have you dynoed that beast or run it at the track yet?

Its been butt-dynoed and a for a 4 door she'll put a grin on your face. Since the trans has never fully been solved issue wise i have held off. I recently found I was 2 qts over in fluid. Not cool but I did a complete flush with and kept it in the notches. I trusted too many people when I built this thing and when I added a 8x11 cooler some how I ended up with 12 qts in the system. I redid my new alternator wiring and installed some new hoses. If all checks out during this week I plan to put it on a set of rollers and YouTube it.
