This pertains to my pioneer cd player in my '96. When i installed the deck i didn't know how to hook up the antenna (power). So now i just get really bad reception and i'm tired of it.

If anyone knows where the wire to the antenna is located in the car please let me know. I've left it like this for almost a year, but now i'm tired of my cd's.

Thanks alot

If you drop the glove box you should see the cable right there.

Well actually I just looked back there and there is alot of wires. I have no idea what could even go to the antenna. I'm sure it's just a single wire or something, but i don't have a clue.

What does it look like and what color is it? Thanks

first off you need to focus behind the radio only. your looking for the power antenna wire to make the unit go up and down, not the antenna wire itself.

behind the radio you have two plugs... now here's an important question..... did you cut the plugs?

question #2- do you have premium sound?

normal plugs are identical, one is black, the other is gray.

premium plugs are normal gray and small square black.

Well yes, whatever wire will run to the antenna. Make it go up and down, and give me better reception.

Q #1: Probably. When i installed the unit i cut the original wires that ran to the Ford unit. Spliced in to the rest, and couldn't find the antenna wire that was so available on my old '93. So i said f-it.

#2:Yes

And i have alot of wires back there. I'll look tonight and let you know. Thanks

Nope, couldn't find it. Ok you must realize that i use absolutely none of the original wires that ran throughout the car (except maybe a power wire). I have ran all new speaker wire.

What direction would the set of wires be coming from? I do see a clump of wires that i wrapped in electric tape that looks like it has been cut. I went through them and saw none that you described as grey or black. Also it was only one cluster of wires...

I am clueless...

you HAVE to find your factory plugs you cut off and tell me whether or not you have two plugs that look identical or one gray plug that is normal and one black plug that is smaller and square with LOTS of wires on it.

if you can find your factory plug, i can help.

he has the ford premuim wire hgarmness.....one rectangle and grey and one square and black....all 93 exs have it...premium radio or not. shouldve just went to meijer and paid the 10 bucks for a harness....less hassle. i dont feel like teariong my dash out, but i would still go pick one up and find your end that you obbed off. compare the plugs. the pin that has a blue or blue/white wire going into it on th eone from meijer should be labeled "antenna' or "amp" wither one will work, they are both remote lines. compare it to the pins on the one you lobbed off and when you find the corresponding pin, thats the wire you need to find in the dash. if you have any type of amp hooked up, you can also use the remote line from that (should be a thin, blue wire)

that's why i want him to find the harness, i have the aftermarket plug in front of me.

ah, ok

Udmsvt....you misunderstood. I USED to have a '93. Now it's a '96 with premium sound. Does the above statement still apply?

find that plug yet???????????

That is not true. The standard ford plugs were also used 91-94.

yes, but in the many early 90s ford trucks, i have rarely ensountered them and never in an ex....as for the 96, well i am not sure what year they started changing ahain. i know in 97, some models still used the one we keep refering to while in 98, some used a totally new plug.
