Hello members, I’m trying to determine the possible cause of a breakdown with my 08 FordExplorer 4.6L.
Since purchase I’ve had a recurring problem with the throttle position sensor (occasionally would get no response from throttle while driving paired with the check engine light w/ code for TPS) I would always just turn the truck off & back on to reset the problem.
This past week I had more irregularities with the functioning of the vehicle. When I start the car would hear coolant gurgling & rushing around engine & the same throttle problem while driving except this time I was also experiencing loss of power/ weak idle when the throttle would go. When I would try & turn off & restart it would crank, fire & puff out a good cloud of white smoke from the exhaust & then die again. When checking under the hood I also noticed the coolant reservoir was above max & the coolant level in the radiator was a little low. Additionally there was a good spritz of coolant that came from the radiator cap. Eventually after sitting for a while I was able to restart the car drive home.
Yesterday while driving to work the idle got really weak & proceeded to die. A little bit of coolant sprayed out radiator cap & the levels were odd again. This time it will not restart. Only crank with the occasional firing.

What are your thoughts? Is this a blown head gasket?

Thanks
