Okay the EPAS steering rack in my 2012 is starting to randomly growl, which of course means its only a matter of time before it likely fails. So, I have studied up on this monstrosity and I think the numerous tiny balls that allow the screw to effortlessly slide side to side in the housing are simply running dry. I think if the balls and the screw were to be re-lubed, the EPAS would last longer much longer.
Here are a couple vids I found very useful.
Is it possible to re-lube the screw to prevent failure? Has anybody pulled a boot and re-lubed the screw?
Thanks.
