I have a 96 Explorer 4 door. The front door switches will only unlock the doors, but there is another switch back by the rear hatch and it will lock and unlock both. Anyone have a clue where I should look?
you likely have the rotted wiring splice in the left rear passenger door raceway. Lots of posts, some with pictures, relatively easy fix with new wiring / resplice.

+1 for budwich on this. If both front doors fail to lock from either front switch, but both doors do lock from the rear switch, that indicates that the problem is not in the driver's or passenger's door jam, but is at the splice under the driver's rear door jam. Good luck.
