Hey guys while I was in the junk yard with a buddy of mine picking up some odds and ends stuff for his taurus I seen an explorer with a mirror that had a puddle light. I was curious to see if it would work if I hooked it up to my truck and low and behold it did. I then went back to get another one. However the second mirror that I installed shakes while driving down the road. Everything works puddle lights and the power mirrors. Is there anyway to tighten the mirror on the motor assembly or do I need to make another trip to the junkyard????

Stuff black sponge foam rubber behind the mirror.

How do I remove the mirror?

Does anyone know how to remove the mirror? I am talking about removing the mirror from the motor that adjusts it not removing the housing.

There is a backing that the mirror is glued to that attaches to the motor by way of knuckle (ball) socket. I have always broken the mirror glass attaching the ball to socket. You can buy the mirror glass at a glass shop...I know...and glue it to the backing after you have attached the backing to the motor controler..
Hope this made sense....

If you take the mirror and its backing off from the housing, you'll be popping it from a ball socket and several stabilizing arms, which are fragile.

The likelihood of you successfully getting it back together and working is pretty slim.

It's probably not an OEM Ford mirror. I bought an aftermarket mirror and it is jittery too. That's why I stuffed black foam behind the mirror backing, to stabilize it from jittering. I used contact adhesive to hold the foam in place.

It is actually a ford OEM mirror which is the reason I purchased it from the junkyard. I can't see it being that hard to pull the mirror and replace it. I have never done it before so I figured that I would ask what the procedure is. That vibration is so annoying the passenger mirror is solid and the driver side mirror I took off was solid. I am not sure if I want to attempt it as you say its difficult. I guess I will live with it.
