The ex was up on a lift for a few days to get some work done not steering related. When driving back home, the steering would shudder when turning the wheel at a full stop. I read that this can happen if the wheels are turned while up on the lift and that it will clear itself after a while. It did finally get back to normal but I opened the hood and checked the fluid in the PS reservoir and it was where is was supposed to be. I noticed that I could move (rotate) the tubing in the fitting on the pump. The fitting it tight. Is this tubing supposed to be free to move?

If you want to clear that air out of the system quicker, find some dirt or gravel to park on (less friction than asphalt). With the engine running in Park or Neutral, slowly turn your wheels lock to lock a few times. This helps a lot.

I had the shudder on a test drive at 60 mph after replacing my hub assemblies. It was so violent it almost scared the poop out of me. Thanks to this forum I already knew what to do to clear it up.

Thanks for your info Turdle!

Good Luck,
Dan

Yes it was a scary feeling when turning the wheel at a stop, especially since it worked fine before it went into the shop. I was thinking time for new pump.

Strange that that metal tubing rotates freely in that bushing with no fluid leak.

It has an O-ring seal, that allows it to rotate like
that. The same thing had me curious (with a Fox
Mustang) several years ago; apparently the seal
works very well...

That explains it.

Thanks.
