what about the relays?

Can you hear the motors turning inside the door panels or is nothing happening at all? I know when I bought my X, the guy let it sit at his mom's house for a few years and the motors got all crapped up. When he went to roll them up for the first time in a few years the gears all went out. We cold welded them all back together, and good as new. (Good ole JB Weld!!! ;) ) Later.

Actually does nothing. All power seems to be out of windows. power locks, power mirrors, radio etc all work. only the windows. Also neither the main driver controls or individual windows work. :burnout:

I got a beer saying its the master window switch. You'll have to do some testing to find out.

If I remember correctly power is pass-through connected the switch panels. In other words if one of the switches is bad none of them will work. The circuit path must be complete before the switches will work. I have a 2 door but I believe the 4 doors are the same.

What you should try is removing the switch panel inserts in the door panels and checking the connectors that plug into the switches. Corrosion could be a culprit. Wiggling a connector can usually find connector/corrosion problems. You can also get a volt meter and make sure you have power to the switches.

It could be relays or something else but if you have power at the fuse your relays might be good.

Start with the "wiggle test" and check for contact corrosion. Then start tracing your power through the switches with a volt meter. That's how I would go about it at least.

Hope you get it fixed.

Thanks for all your help

But regretfully I just left it at my job and when my friend went to work on it he said the windows went right up on there own. So its still a mystery to me

Glad to hear you got it worked out.

Well I dont know if its fixed but its working for now. :fire:

My x does the same thing. If you ever figure out what it is thats going on will you let me know. Its raining here now and i had to cover up mine with a trash bag, i made sure that none got on the paint. But it makes me so mad. It seems to me the higher the temp the more likely they will stay down. If you find out anything just let me know. Thanks :exp:

well I found that I have a short in the main window controls on the driver side. I actually had to bang it to get it to work. Once I replaced it the windows worked fine.

You have loose wire somewhere....
