Hello:
I have a 1992 explorer sport.
Only two speakers are working - front right and rear left. I have swapped radio's and speakers with no fix. It sounds like a classic amplifier problem to me.
I understand the amp is located behind the panel on the passenger side. Is it high, low, near the front rear or where? I am asking because I have little interest in pulling the whole panel off and thought I would just cut an access hole instead and patch it back when done.

Thanks for the help.

Ty

my ex wife had similar problem. turns out that amp was behind passenger rear panel right above tire. its not too hard to pull rear hatch trim and peel back panel to get to it. you need a friend to hold it back. there is a specail bypass harness i got for 20 bucks from local audio shop, those guys knew what i needed. you can call locally or or google it.

good luck

not the least bit hard to remove the entire interior panel but if you wanna go make your vehicle look like a red neck pile of crap because your too lazy to take out a few screws then go ahead.

Woa. Relax. I appreciate the advice, but the specifics of the interior of a man's truck is a personal decision between him and his truck. I contend that what we chose to do within the confines of our relationship is off limits and outside the scope of this forum.

Thanks for the help.....

LOL
need some ky with that?

JK

couldnt resist.

seriously though, its easy to do it the way i did it. if you want the access hole to it, just peek back there first to make sure you make the hole in the right place.

Yea, just have a friend with you, to hold the panel back, then reach through and put the amp bypass harness on and your all set.

You just gotta pop those little things out, then you can pull it back. Hell, I did it with just me.

I got the amp bypass free from crutchfield when I bought my headunit.
