I used my remote to unlock my vehicle, but noticed that it did not make the usual chirp sound indicating that the theft system had been disabled. When I tried to start the vehicle, nothing... the starter would not even turn. I hit the unlock button on the driver's door... the theft system made the chirp noise and the vehicle would then start. Then when I exited the vehicle, I hit the remote to lock the vehicle, the doors locked but no double chirp like it should... I even tried a few ways to get the alarm to activate when the car is locked, but nothing. Any suggestions on what may be wrong as to why the system seems to only be partially working?

What is the chirp sound to which you referee?

Mine makes no such sound. Do you have an aftermarket alarm?

As far as I know, it is a factor system... I bought the truck used two years ago. I used the word "chirp" loosely as it is not a high pitch chirp that is heard on many systems, but actually a lower sounding noise that is hard to describe.... it seems as if the system is working to prevent the truck from starting, but not activating the part of the system if the vehicle is broken into... also, the remote is not deactivating the part of the system that prevents it from starting, but it locks and unlocks the doors.

The only sound that mine as well as others that I have heard is the locking/unlocking noise no other sound whatsoever.

Good luck ....
