Ive been reading that 97 PCM will work. In a 98 eliminating the need for PATS. The vehicle is a bit af a wreck and is only used on small island. The vehicle cranks but will not fire and the theft light is flashing fast. I can’t get it off the island so a dealer is out of the question.

Ok so the theft light will
Flash quickly for like 60
Seconds then it will flash a trouble code
You could the number of times the light flashes (usually six) and then that is the trouble code

Typically the halo around the key fails causing it not to be able to read the key

There are services that you can mail your PCM to and they will flash a new tune that eliminates PATS.
